Winners of the WGI World Championship in Scholastic A Class at the 2006 WGI World Championships, the Gates Chili Varsity Guard has moved into open class competition this season, with a show expanded in complexity and effects from last season. This year’s program is called “Requiem” and is performed to Mozart’s Requiem.

Concept, design, and instruction are by Todd Diamond, assisted by Choreographer Sarah Cole and Equipment Technicians Amy Pusateri and Missy Wozniak. Floor design is by Todd Diamond and Electra-Tarp.

In addition to winning WGI last year, the guard was the Northeast Color Guard Circuit Scholastic A Champion. The members and staff of the guard are looking forward to the increased challenge of Open class and are attending four WGI regional competitions as well as the World Championship in Dayton. All of the members are students in the Gates Chili schools and the guard is sponsored by Gates Chili Color Guard Parents Inc. The Director is Dick Hoppe.
